An actual 'Modern Day Typical Family'

Although these families have their problems, I would not say these are modern day typical families. Not ones I or others can relate to:

The Incredibles - the mum nags all the time, doesn't work and stays at home looks after house and the children as they argue. They are a white American family with funny black family friend. The dad's the breadwinner. Daughter's shy but argues with her brother who's loud and mischievous.

No Ordinary Family - Both parents work but the mum is a breadwinner but only because she works in a genetic department doing sciencey thing (who's mum does that?) They are a white American family with a funny black family friend. The son is mischievous and isn't academic or good at anything (before his powers) but the daughter is amazing and can't do anything wrong. Daddy's lil princess.

So Stereotypical!

What about using an actual 'modern day typical family'?

My family for example is interracial, gay friendly, both parents work - dad has his own business and mum is a performance manager in the NHS, mum's the breadwinner, mum's in charge.
May not be the most interesting family in the world but the concept would be less stereotypical and it could be adapted to be more interesting.
